Dowels wwwaaayyy too bigLooks good, mostly wasnt hard to assemble except:1) dowels were twice the diameter of the holes. Luckily i had the proper size on hand.2) no predrilled holes for panel to legs join. Again i have tools, but for others could be an issue.Otherwise, seems nice and sturdy.

Flaw not from shipping (2 stars initially)The attached photo is of the top of the desk in a place where we would not be able to hide it with a printer or some other object. The flaw is extremely obvious and is about three and a half inches in the most visible part of the desk top. We contacted Atlantic Furniture directly (insert in packaging says not to contact the seller). They claim they will be sending us a replacement part, but the shipping date keeps getting pushed farther out. If we receive the correct part (not hopeful) I will update this review.The desk looks solid, but we did not assemble it because of the flaw and we are waiting to see if they ship the proper top prior to assembly.We put the desk and all of its parts and packaging in a closet in our guest room while we wait for the company to ship a replacement top. The smell of chemical varnish is quite strong in the closet and noticeable in the guest room, even with the closet door being closed. This smell has persisted for a couple weeks; I would recommend not putting this desk in a small room, as it will need a lot of space to air out to let the smell dissipate.The desk was shipped in a box with plenty of packaging around it to protect the desk-top, corners, edges, etc. The packaging was quite good. The full shipping weight was 65 pounds, so not easy to move around. I am not hopeful that the replacement desk top they have shipped is the correct one. The full shipping weight of the package being shipped by FedEx is listed as being only 34 pounds. I didn’t think the legs and sides weighed over thirty pounds so we weighed those parts. They weighed a combined 17 pounds, Somehow Atlantic Furniture has found a way to ship a desk top to us that is 17 pounds lighter than the original desk top.We still want to like this desk, but the experience so far has been less than acceptable. If they make things right, I will edit and update this review.Update on May 17: Replacement Part Delivery date has been pushed out again. Emailed Atlantic Furniture again; they replied with an email telling me what a great company they are and claiming to have wonderful products and customer service.Update on May 23: We received the replacement part and assembled the desk. It looks good, feels solid, and should serve its purpose well. I changed the star rating from 2 stars to 4 stars based on the product. Customer Service eventually came through, but if quality control was a little better, we could have avoided some trouble and extra work and stress.I would recommend the purchase of this desk or other furniture from Atlantic Furniture if you are willing to put up with whatever problems they may send your way.

Good quality for the moneyDesk was for an occasional work at home office. The desk was relatively simple to put together. You will need to drill 4 pilot holes for the screws to attach the side frame to the legs. The screws would be very hard to attach without doing this. I don’t know why the manufacturer skips this step. Fit and finish were good with no shipping damage. Only other issue was that the freight company delivered the box to the middle of the driveway mid-day and did not ring the door to let me know it was there.

very nice tableThis is a are very nice piece of furniture, very heavy. My only problem is the walnut that I ordered appears to be expresso. This is not at all like the photo. Problem is that we were remodeling and did not open cartons for a while and after assembling just felt that maybe I looked wrong, but after searching around now I feel that the color is definitely wrong.

Nice Desk OverallThe desk is nice overall except for a few items. The mission side panels are difficult to screw into the side legs at the bottom. I had to use a drill in order to screw the side panels in. The legs should have been pre drilled at the factory. The odor of the table is quite strong due to the finish being applied. It takes about 2 weeks or more for that to subside. There were some small white spotted blemishes I had to use a marker on to remove from the table top surface. The table is sturdy, well constructed and designed. The drawer with its lined drawers and nice sliding movement is very high end. I would recommend this desk to anyone looking for a nice piece of furniture.

A lovely and functional piece of furniture that will last…Looking for a desk for our teenage son, to fit into a relatively small room, we found this offering and are very pleased with the result. We hoped to find a very open piece of quality furniture that would last, and the desk is exactly that. It arrived in perfect condition, carefully packed, and was indeed easy to assemble. The single drawer is lined with felt, slides in and out quietly, and feels “professional” in the words of my son. The top surface is a beautiful piece of wood. The power and USB plugs on the side make it convenient to keep a computer and phone on the surface and minimize cords. There were less expensive options of course, but after receiving the desk and putting into use, this feels like a sound long-term investment that can be used for many years.

Beautiful and sturdy.The charging station on the side is an added bonus. I bought this desk to put in our guest room. It fits well with the Mission style headboard of the bed. Not the easiest thing I ever put together because there were a couple of drilled holes that were absent. But I’m fairly handy, so I was able to do it in about an hour. Beautiful finish, with a tiny flaw here and there, but I’m probably the only one who’ll notice. I bought a desk mat for the top to protect it from being marred when guests use it.
