Great except.The bookcase was easy to assemble and a welcome addition to my home although there is one minor issue, and that is that the paint should be allowed to cure at your facility and not have the smell continue on to my home. I had to let the paint cure and stop the odor in my garage for about a week before bringing it into my home office. That being said, I am happy with it.

Quality control is a real issue here. Beware.These bookcases are lovely – when manufactured correctly.I ordered two of these and the first assembled with only a relatively small issue. The issue was that the parts were not labeled as the directions indicated. Having assembled countless ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture, such as this is, I am more familiar than most on this subject. Add to this the fact that I have worked for a few RTA furniture companies at a senior level, and I can easily claim that I recognize poorly constructed end-user assembly instructions, such as the manufacturer of this product provides. If badly devised instructions were the only issue, I would not be awarding this bookcase 2 stars.The 2 star rating I am giving is a function of the fact that the second of two of these items that I ordered was incorrectly manufactured. The drilled holes on one side did not match the holes and dowel locations of the center shelf. It was a physical impossibility to assemble the bookcase in this instance, and I had to return the bookcase to Amazon.This may not sound like a big deal, but believe me, it was. Unpacking the parts of this bookcase so that you can assemble it is no small feat. The parts are not light-weight, and come wrapped in paper and plastic. Re-wrapping the parts and putting them back in the Styrofoam sheathing in which the parts are shipped, for re-shipment, is at best, almost a sobriety contest. Really.Nonetheless, I repacked the defective bookcase and Amazon graciously handled the return and credit.I then went online at a private furniture manufacturer’s website and purchased, for the same price, fully-assembled, solid wood 2-shelf bookcases. Two, actually. These are beautiful, and manufactured to high quality standards. They are lovely in my office.This Shaker bookcase was my preference, aesthetically, yet the discovery of the abysmal manufacturing quality control standards left me feeling profoundly disappointed and frustrated. Fortunately, I was able to recover well enough.Just beware. You have a fifty-fifty chance of ordering and receiving a properly manufactured bookcase when ordering this item. And watch out for the assembly instructions, which you will have to mentally correct for proper assembly.

Slightly damaged GoodsThis came slightly damaged. I know that it is probably the fault of the delivery service and not the sender , but still bummed. It is assembled and will make do, but the front ,top,right corner came damaged. Wouldn’t have cared if it was on a back corner, but it’s not.
