Just what I was looking for, Super easy Assembly, Great Product!I was initially apprehensive to shell out $220 on a shelf with some less than perfect reviews from a few years ago, but ultimately took a chance and am glad I did.QUALITY: The bookcase is sturdy. Solid. With both a pleasing design and impeccable construction. I am so impressed with the quality that I will likely purchase another. I will also purchase the matching desk when it becomes available, as I assume the construction is comparable. This is a well engineered piece of furniture that can withstand everyday use, not just serve a decorative purpose. In other words, yes, it can be filled with books!ASSEMBLY: 8 screws. 15 minutes. This bookcase is assembled with 8 screws. A hex screwdriver is included. Best furniture assembly experience I’ve ever had. The only small complaint I have is that the bookcase in the instruction manual did not completely resemble the bookcase I received. The bottom piece had a notch in the instruction picture but did not in real life. This was not an issue, as it is pretty clear what part they were talking about.

A bad experience becomes a teaching toolFor a non-professional, I’m pretty experienced with wood working and wood based products. I’ve restored family furniture, built things for the kids from scratch and installed the decorative elements of a home remodeling project (chair rails, molding and the like). But, I also realize that these are merely occasional ‘projects’ I take great pride in that take time. Thus, I readily buy furniture from Amazon, Target and Walmart, when it suits, because it gives me time to do the other things I love to do with my kids, etc. I am not a hard guy to please in this regard. I’ve never had a thought that any of these products I’ve purchased needed returning. I guess I’ve been lucky. This set of shelves was the worst received online buying experience for me, ever. Here is a list of problems with what I received: First, all of the pre-assembled pieces were obviously painted and assembled before their paint had dried, leaving drips, tacky stringy seams and flash. Second, all (all) of the 36 shelf holes were drillled one size too large, so that the shelf mounting pegs all fell right out, except for two holes (these two were not drilled at all). Third, there are only eight assembly bolts for the whole set, and one of them came cast without a wrench insert hole, so it couldn’t be screwed in. My wife asked if it was worth reassembling the packaging and box to deliver to a shipper for a return. No, I said, because the time that would take could be used by me to repair what I received in a way that could teach my daughter about simple pride and craftsmanship. We’ll be using a sharp knife to cut out the strings and flash, sand and touch-up paint where needed, refill each of the shelf holes and re-drill, and buy a new bolt at Home Depot. We may even personallize the top of the cabinet for her. It’s not the project we set out to do, but we’re ‘making lemonade’.

Works perfectly well for our small area needsI purchased this bookshelf as it is a smaller size for my daughter’s nursery to hold her baby books and small toys. We had a difficult time finding an off-white colored shelf to match her other furnishings. The item arrived well packaged and my husband had little difficulty assembling it. It even came with a wall tie down safety strap to prevent tipping which was great! One of the disappointments was the somewhat “cottagey” look to it. In the image provided you cannot really see the routed vertical lines on the side panels (we though they were flat). So her other furnishings are a bit more ornate vs this one having a more cottage look. If you are interested in what the color really is, I would say it is a lighter ivory than we hoped for as well, but definitely not white-white. In the shadows it matches our other antique white furniture which have a little more of a yellow hue to them. Overall this is a sturdy shelf (for the price), easy to assemble and serves the purpose for what we bought it for well.

Wrong color.The picture shows it in black. The description says in black finish, BUT the bookcase is actually white. It threw off my colors in the whole room. I contacted the seller who basically said, it’s your fault because it does also say ivory sand. That being said, it is a very solid bookcase and if you want it in white, worth the price. It assembled very quickly and easily and is very sturdy.
