A few issues with designI wanted a natural maple style furniture for my office – so this is the third piece I’ve bought from Bush Business Furniture. It came in two separate packages and you’ll need a hammer and a screwdriver to assemble this.A few hours of work.I’ve encountered three issues with this 5 Shelf Bookcase with Doors.1.I ended up plugging in some holes only to remove those plugs short time after. The doors are an “addon” for the bookshelf. You get two packages with two sets of instructions – one for the bookcase and one for the doors. The instructions for the bookshelf say to plug in 8 holes with a plastic insert while the instructions for the doors say to put the hinges in those holes.2.The wood shelf that doubles as the top of the bottom compartment (the shelf that is on the same level as the tops of the doors) ended up protruding from the back a bit. This shelf seemed to be the same in either position, but ended up bulging the back of the bookshelf just a bit. You can attribute this to me not being careful with the orientation – but – its either was defective or some genius thought it was a good idea to make it just ever so slightly asymmetrical in alignment of holes.3.I also ordered the 5 Shelf bookcase without the doors from Bush. They are slightly different for some reason. This one at the 72H 5 Shelf Bookcase are identical in picture and material, but are slightly different sizes. Its a really weird decision and enough to bother me. Watch out if you buy one of each!

Worth the priceI shopped around before deciding on this particular one and actually ordered a totally different one before this which was a disaster but after finding this one I was definitely pleased. Other than not being able to hand the cabinet doors as straight as they should be the product is great.

Visible shelf Backing is solid cheap-looking gray, not as shownBe warned that even though the photo shows the storm gray back panel on this bookshelf, when it comes the panel is just a solid different shade of gray with no grain to it. The rest of the u it has the grain-type pattern of the nice looking storm gray design, but the entire backing of the shelves that runs the length of the unit is only a solid, uniform, slightly lighter shade of solid gray (without the grain of every other “storm gray” piece, and that sticks out from the flow of the rest of the full office of furniture in storm gray and seriously cheapens the look of the whole unit and ensemble of furniture.

Arrived Broken; Cheap Pressed WoodThe bookshelf arrived split in two pieces. It’s composed of pressed wood that can be damaged easily.

Bush Industries-the manufacturer- provide outstanding customer serviceThis bookcase was relatively easy to assemble for anyone who has built similar put-together furniture before. It is pleasingly solid and stands very stable thanks to its very good depth. Mine came with one of the uprights cracked and the manufacturer had a replacement here in 3 days. It looks very find and is just what I needed. Feel confident that if you have any trouble assembling, the manufacturer answers their help line in a couple of minutes and you are talking to someone very competent who will solve your problem. I like it so much, I ordered a second.
