A great cheap bookcaseThis is an attractive looking bookcase, that is easy to put together. However, I would recommend it for heavy usage, and I advise that you anchor it to the wall. It is primarily held to together with these “twist plugs” you might have seen in other cheap furniture: one end is a metal “nut” or plug that goes in a pre-drilled hole in the wood, then the other end is a metal “screw” that doesn’t have any threading. The screw goes into the metal plug and you twist it with a screwdriver to tighten it down. I have built cheap furniture with these things before and after a few years, they tend to wiggle loose or sometimes come apart completely. I recommend that you buy some wood glue and put some in the pre-drilled holes right before you are going to connect the “screw” and “plug” together. This will increase the longevity of the bookcase considerably.

Nice piece of furnitureAssembly was pretty easy. This is actually some of the better made put together furniture I have ever bought and assembled. I bought multiple pieces for my home office and overall I am very pleased. I thought the bookcases were a little pricey but I bought 2 anyway.

Looks good actuallyIf you follow the instructions from beginning to end, this was fun to put together. All the pieces fit like a glove. The “veneer” seems to be some kind of plastic wrap, but it looks real. I did not use the cardboard back piece. I don’t think it looks good or makes that much of a difference and lots of people here got frustrated with the tiny nails. Instead I mounted it on the wall with anchors and metal pieces. It worked quite well.The main con is that it’s all man made material, something I crinch at and the “veneer” is super thin. If you can avoid any dent’s and scratches it might just last a while.

Pretty but flimsyThe bookshelf was easy to assemble, I was able to do it alone in under an hour. It looks very nice and is perfect for what I need it for. BUT it is extremely wobbly and I’m concerned it will fall on one of my kids. I will be bracketing it to the wall and even then I’ll have to be careful when using it and when my kids are around it. A little disappointed to be honest

Poor customer service!The cabinet is very nice however, the little pins the little tabs that you push in to cover up the ends of the screws will not stay in and did not come with enough. I wrote to the seller with this problem asking for additional little tabs and the seller did not reply. So therefore these screws that you screw into them the heads of them are very shiny and visible and checks away from the rest of the product.

Expected better quality for the moneyThis bookshelf is mediocre. I bought it to replace my very old white bookshelf as seen in the photo. I absolutely loved the finish and look of this bookshelf, and it got great reviews so I figured why not.The packaging arrived in perfect condition and none of the pieces were damaged. However, upon opening, I was very saddened to realize that every piece of the bookshelf was particle board. For $250, I expected better. As another reviewer pointed out, the nails to connect the hardboard backing are so fine. When trying to nail them in, one of them slipped and ripped off about a quarter-sized chunk of veneer (see picture). I was highly disappointed. As a grad student, $250 is a lot to me and it sucks to know that I essentially paid for an expensive piece of junk. This bookshelf will not last long term. I honestly don’t even know if it would survive a move.If you are interested in a bookshelf, I recommend skipping this one and spending more for higher quality.

I love this bookcase!!!!I needed a bookcase in my sewing room, to hold all my quilt making books, supplies, etc.Here are the things I love about this bookcase…– It’s heavy and sturdy!– Each shelf holds a max of 45 pounds!– The instructions were so easy to follow! I’m a 62 year old grandmother, and I was able to easily assemble this bookcase by myself, using a cordless drill/screw gun to assemble it. Just make sure you assemble it near a wall so that the wall can hold up a side while you assemble it. ;)– The parts are in individual packages and numbered, so there is no guessing what part goes where.– Nothing was damaged or missing, so I am one happy camper!– This is a BEAUTIFUL bookcase. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.>> There is only one thing I could call a “negative”. They provide tiny screws to attach the back onto the bookcase. The screws are so fine and tiny that you need a very, very small philips screw driver. With no pre-drilled holes provided, it was impossible for me to screw them into the back of the bookcase. That said, I fixed the problem by simply hammering the tiny screw into the back of the bookcase, using them as if they were brad nails. They’re so fine, they hammered in easily. 😉 Hammering them in worked great.If you’re looking for a beautiful, affordable bookcase, don’t hesitate to buy this one. 🙂
