Nice bench, questionable style and strength of fabric for traditional style bench.This is an attractive bench with quite a bit of stitching detail. For sitting and putting on shoes, it is sturdier than I expected. The hinges are firm and open about 75%. Attaching the legs was quick and easy. We ordered two. I like the faux brown leather much, much better than the faux linen. The brown looks like leather to me and has a uniform look….in terms of the grain or make of the material. Where as the fabric on the faux linen doesn’t look like a linen in terms of the weave. It looks inconsistent in weave or blotchy color of thread changes like a modern polyester that stretches a bit (stretchiness may be good or bad over time…where sewn there are some tiny tiny gaps in the fabric and if they don’t get bigger that’s fine). The color we received was a white and light gray blend in the fabric that has some lint that is difficult to remove; some from underneath and some just stuck. (I wonder if it’s a return or just messy manufacturing?) I was hoping for a consistent fabric weave, sturdier fabric overall, and a warmer off white color or darker khaki or darker gray. The legs have a common small plastic cap at the bottom that allows the bench to slide all over the place on hardwood. Some reviewers mention an odor…on the faux leather bench, there was a very faint paint thinner odor, but hardly noticeable. On the faux linen we noticed no odor at all. At 42″ across the front this is a much smaller bench then we are use too (50″ across), but this is great for our tiny back hall and still works in our front foyer. Shipping was free and was a moderate speed. Strong, thick shipping boxes. If I had ordered both faux brown (our foyer is in direct sun light and this damages many leather and leather like furniture so I went with the fabric), if I had ordered two brown, I would have given the product a 5 star rating out of the box.Update: April 2018The wooden triangular bracket the leg screws into has broken/splintered apart and separated from the bench itself. My husband who is only 160 pounds sits on it every day many times a day to put his shoes on. I’m disappointed it did not hold his weight for more than 2 years.

Deal of a Price on a Nice Looking PieceLooks true to the picture. As other reviewers have said, more of a Linen than a Beige/Creme color. I like it. It’s what I expected. The craftmanship is a little shotty, however, considering it is Made in China, what else was I to expect? But overall, for the price, it’s still a great deal. Doesn’t open a full 90 degrees, but it does open at least 3/4 of the way and stays put when open. Handles the weight of my husband and myself (We’re a combined 330lbs) with a soft creak. Stores a decent amount of blankets and linens. If not for the few parts of my ottoman’s overall cosmetic construction, I would have given this a 5. Buy with confidence, but expect there to be some cosmetic irregularities.UPDATE: JUNE 2015I get a lot of compliments on this piece. It looked good out of the package, was easy enough to put together and overall still feels like a winning purchase.The downfall:I noticed shotty craftsmanship from the get-go. Poorly drilled holes, warped screws, missing screws, loose hinges. But I was so excited to get it that I didn’t want this “stuff” to dull the glorious excitement of opening such a large piece of mail! I figured — I can fix it… (and I still technically can I guess, lol)Within the first year, the screws on the hinges started to come loose and fall out.Within the second year, the hinges could no longer stay open because the screws had all fallen out of their holes, which were not really holes, but poorly drilled screws that never “took” to the surface they should have been securely fastened to.All in all I am still happy with this purchase. The issues are minimal enough that someone handy and willing to put in the time could easily fix the hinge issue. It doubles as a footrest and coffee table in my living room and people that come over comment on how nice it looks, and that’s before they’ve even realized it opens up and stores blankets and stuff!

Comfortable as a Bedroom Storage BenchWe have had this bench for about a week now and like it a lot. My husband says that it’s “the perfect height to sit on” when putting on shoes, socks, or pants. It is not as high as the product information states. Our bench is 17 1/2 inches high after I put the legs on. I was concerned, as I really wanted the 19 inches that it states. But, my husband likes it as is, so we will keep it.It is nicely padded and comfortable for what we’re using it for, at the foot of our bed. It seems quite sturdy. We are not tiny people, my hubby around 250 pounds, and it seems stable for our occasional use. The legs screwed in easily and seem solidly attached,The inside isn’t great. The “cloth” lining is paper fiber, I think. The legs are in a bag inside when it’s shipped and ours came loose so it was banging around inside. The fabric was torn in two places on one end, but I’m just storing pillows in it so didn’t complain or seek to return it. The exterior vinyl is pretty and finished well. It looks like it should last well with the use we’ll give it.The hinges don’t open the top to ninety degrees, only about 45 or a bit more. It lifts easily and stays open until you close it.I’m pleased with our bench and it suits our needs. Four and a half stars!

Good quality and fast shipping!Pros:1. Good quality materials used. I purchased 3 of these and each one is very sturdy and well made. I was worried I might not actually be able sit on it since none of the other reviewers mentioned this. They also don’t list a maximum weight limit.2. Color is exactly as pictured. Someone else mentioned it was actually a darker khaki color but it’s not.3. Good amount of storage space inside. They don’t give interior dimensions or show a full picture of the inside but it can easily store 2 comforters.4. The top lifts up higher than the picture. One of the other reviews mentioned it didn’t lift up very much and I was willing to deal with that. However, it opens almost completely to a 90 degree angle.5. Fast shipping! I chose the free super saver shipping and purchased directly from amazon and received my order 3 days later. It showed 5-8 days as the delivery time so I’m very happy I chose not to spend the ridiculous amount of money it would have cost for 2nd day shipping.6. Packaged well. Each leg was wrapped so they wouldn’t get damaged and secured inside the bench so as not to cause any damage to the inside.Cons:1. The only very minimal issue I had was one of the 3 benches had a piece of the black interior fabric sticking out of the front because it was sewn a little weird. It was easy to trim it away and I don’t think the stitching is likely to come loose.Overall I would recommend this storage bench. It is a great piece of furniture for the money.

Very good quality BUT there are a couple things to be aware of…Very good quality. In fact, the thing actually looks like real leather.Be aware though that it is quite dark — almost black. I have several other pieces of leather furniture (i.e. couches, chairs, coffee table, etc) around this bench, and this bench is noticeably darker than everything else. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to be aware of.Also, when mine arrived, it had quite a bit of indentations on the top as a result of the corrugated cardboard shipping box being compressed against it. I almost sent it back for this reason, but fortunately I was able to get the indentations out by covering them with a damp towel and then ironing over the towel with an iron on the low setting. This worked like a charm, but if you do it just be careful to only iron over the damp towel and NOT directly on the material so you don’t risk ruining it.
