Cute shelfThis is a nice sturdy shelf that looks good. It is solid wood, so heavy. No strange odor or damage to product. It is a bit difficult to put together solo, and I suggest a drill (it may have been lacking a hole or two???), but should be a breeze with a partner. Looks great stained, but beware that there could be glue on the wood, I suggest some light sanding.

They don’t use stainable wood fillers glue.I have a fair amount of International Concepts furniture in my house. One quibble is that they don’t use stainable wood fillers and glue. This becomes noticeable when that area won’t take stain. If you plan to paint or use a light stain, it won’t be noticeable. Or, you may dig a more “rustic” look. Luckily, the books hide the spots near the joints that didn’t stain properly. Still, a nice little shelf!

As Described. Great Quality.The pieces arrived with NO damage, which was a great relief. I am not a handy person, so I sent it to a finisher to put on a “Natural” finish from General Finishes, along with a clear topcoat from General Finishes. I didn’t want a stain because I like the light parawood grain very much. The finisher also put the bookcase together, because it would not have been easy or a lot of fun for me. I love the finished product.

Beautiful and Well MadeA strong, sturdy, well-crafted bookcase. The wood is beautiful; the surfaces so smooth. Everything lined up beautifully for a very easy assembly. It’s heavy because it’s very good wood. I’m very impressed and very happy with this piece.

Arrived damagedThis item arrived damaged. It was damaged before it was packaged. I used to like this brand but the quality/quality control is now lacking. The last few pieces I have ordered have been damaged and/or defective.

surprised by high quality woodexcellent furniture, thick and good looking wood. although planks made from glued wood pieces, they were very well joined. very fine sanded finish. wood is too pretty to paint, so i will rub on Tung Oil for beautiful and lasting finish. i also plan to build legs for it out of solid Mesquite for more stability and character.

Holes didn’t line upGreat quality materials, but unfortunately the holes do not line up with the set we got. I will be returning it for a replacement to see if it’s a one-time issue. It’s a bit inconvenient as the box is very heavy so returning it will be difficult because I have to carry it.
