Great productThis corner bookcase is gorgeous and so very easy to assemble. It looks like it cost a lot more than it did. Highly recommend. Only smell was of new wood and it wasn’t strong and disappeared right away.

Attractive, smelly and hard to put together. And, did I mention attractive?This is a nice looking piece of mission furniture at a decent price. There’s actually a little real wood in it, not just pressed composition board. I wanted to really like this corner bookcase because it looks so nice in my office. But, the negatives outweigh the positives. It arrived promptly. All pieces were present, including the screws and allen wrench. As other reviewers have mentioned, however, the minute the box was opened, the smell of the stain filled the room — and remained for several days. Pretty potent. Assembly was a pain south of my waist. The instructions stink (also), and my (very average sized) fingers had a hard time fitting into the small spaces to screw in the hardware with the primitive allen wrench provided. It’s a two-person job, for sure. It is not a particularly stable piece of furniture. The company provides a really dippy set of screws to put into your wall to make sure the unit does not topple forward. I would not trust them. So, it’s attractive and didn’t cost an arm and a leg, but I wish I would have bought a unit that was, perhaps, not quite so attractive but also was less odoriferous, easier to assemble and sturdier.

3.5 stars. Nice, but chipped easily during assemblyOverall a nice looking piece of furniture. Unfortunately it is a little flimsy in parts and chipped easily during assembly. Thankfully, it was on the back and doesn’t show. The finished product has received compliments. We also purchased a matching end table/night stand by the same company and that was much more solid. I would probably buy this again. The matching night stand, however, is 5 stars all the way

REAKS OF STAIN ODOR! LEAVE IT OUTSIDE AFTER BUILDING!This is a study, lovely looking corner bookcase, which was just what I wanted. So why only 3 stars? IT STINKS OF STAIN. The Chinese can’t wait to get this shipped, so they package it still wet with stain, and the smell permeates the bookcase and packaging and is locked in all the way from China to America. As a result, even after you put it together, which is VERY easy and intuitive, it smells awful of stain. It takes more than a day for the smell to clear. I suggest putting it outside on a sunny day and letting it dry and the smell dissipate.

Not as sturdy as it looksThis was difficult to put together. The back is cardboard. It says to use the anchor hardware to keep it from tipping over. Definitely would recommend using it the anchors. It is not stable. It does look nice if you don’t get too close. LOL
