Great looking, ok quality, difficult assemblyHad previously purchased the white Monarch office desk and loved it so decided to buy the bookcase as well. The reviews on the desk made it clear that even professionals had some difficulty so paid someone to out it together. However, my handyman wasnt available for this project so I decided to tackle it myself. Trust the reviews on this one. This one is hard to assemble unnecessarily. I actually enjoy putting furniture together, but when I opened the box I was instantly overwhelmed. It had at least 30 peices, but this turned out to not be a major set back. Most of them were numbered or easily identifiable. But the screws, bolts, etc were a mess. There are plenty and although the parts list had them lettered there were no corresponding letters on the actual packaging. 3 or 4 sets of screws with 2/8th difference in length was not the easiest to distinguish but I guess why they printed a ruler on the instructions. I can’t say it is the best quality. There are definitely a few mishaps that I had to strategically cover up. I was watching a movie while putting it together but it probably took me about 3.5 hours. Too long in my book, but like the bookcase.

Ridiculous assembly, but a nice solid set of shelves when doneThis is a pretty good set of white shelves for our beach-themed bedroom. We purchased two sets of shelves. The instructions were awful. It’s almost as if the manufacturer is intentionally trying to torture their customers. The first shelf took me two solid hours to put together, and I’m a very handy person. The second shelf went together in less than an hour, because I was able to ignore the instructions and just go.For the price, these things are exactly what you’d expect: lots of pressed board and cam locks. I added a few extra fasteners of my own to strengthen the shelves. Due to the weight of the drawers at the bottom, these shelves are quite a bit more stable than another brand of leading ladder shelves I purchased years ago. I just wish these shelves were a 8-12″ taller.One issue the manufacturer apparently didn’t think of is that the foot on the bottom/back is only designed to go up against baseboard molding. Anyone with shoe molding or quarter-round will find that this foot gets in the way, thus keeping the shelves from sitting flush against the wall. A quick modification of this foot fixed the problem, but the manufacturer should have known better.I’d give these things 3 1/2 stars, but I’m a tough critic. I think most folks will be quite satisfied with these shelves. Just give yourself a few hours for assembly!

I love itI’m 5’3 and 116 pound female. When this package arrived, it was delivered to the 1st floor, and I live on the 4th. I had no issue scooting the box though my hallways, even if it was a bit heavy. Once in my apartment I started to take the pieces out. My method involves lining up all the pieces in numerical order, and then getting rid of the Styrofoam and the box.Boy, am I glad I did that. With everything out and a clear space, and the use of my handy power drill I didn’t have a problem assembling this piece. It looks overwhelming, but once you get started it’s a breeze. The hardest part I had was making sure I was urging the correct screws as they look similar and the bags they come in aren’t labeled. Overall the assembly and clean up didn’t take more that an hour and 15.I would totally recommend as long as your semi handy (or have the ability to put together ikea furniture) and have Patients.I’m really happy with my purchase!! I wish i could up load a picture of my shelf!

Good End Result, Rough AssemblyWhen reading other reviews mentioning the difficult assembly I naively thought it wouldn’t be that rough. Wow, was I wrong.I recently moved and put together all the furniture (mostly from Ikea) in under 2 hours. Like, the entire bedroom in under 2 hours. This shelf unit took me over 3 hours to build.First, you’re given multiple unlabeled bags of parts. There are several different sizes of screws and you’ll have to measure them to make sure you get the right screw. After I measured the screws I set them in separate piles and labeled them so I wouldn’t have to stop and measure every time. Also, the screws don’t go in flush so expect them to stick out a little. It’s not obvious in the end result, but as you build the unit it makes you question if you measured the screws correctly.Second, while each board is labeled/stamped with a number, the number isn’t always clear. I’m my case board 11 wasn’t clear and looked like board 1.Third, the instructions were clearly xerox copies and very faint in some parts making it more difficult.The end result is a lovely bookshelf and I’m enjoying it very much. I just plan to never take it apart.

5 stars from experience furniture assemblerThis bookshelf is great. It’s beautiful and well constructed. I would know because I constructed it myself. While I am completely satisfied and had few issues, I do not recommend this to anyone who has never built prefab furniture before. If IKEA makes your heart tremble in fear, don’t buy this bookshelf. Seriously, 21 board types, plus hardware letters a-z+a1 &a2I love IKEA, personally, and have built most of the furniture in my house. So for me, the fact that the directions don’t give you a clear indication of which way the drawer tracks should be mounted, was not a problem. If you have experience putting together furniture, you’ll have a lovely bookshelf in about 3 episodes of Jane the Virgin.This bookshelf was well packaged with reinforcements at the corners of the boxes and I had no damaged pieces. The boards are all labeled with a red stamped number so finding the right piece is easy. The hardware is packaged in individual plastic baggie compartments – however these are not labeled so use a sharpie so you don’t have to keep looking back at the inventory.Parts are clearly labeled in the pictograph instructions.Overall, I am very pleased.

Nice shelf…not so easy assembly!Great looking and functional shelf but not very easy to assemble. The drawers were off too and my husband had to fix it so they would close all the way like they should.

Assembly is a nightmare but the product is niceThe UPS guy was so incredibly nice to bring the package upstairs for me. Just as a first note.Assembly was a nightmare. The instructions are challenging and unclear. We wasted 30 minutes re-counting the pieces because we were trying to figure out if and why we were missing some of that were listed in the manual, only to realize that they belong to an extra step that we didn’t have to do. Mind you, none of this was stated in the manual, we had to guess. Luckily we were right.So with that delay, it took us about 3.5-4 hours to assemble the whole thing. It’s beautiful though, and exactly what we needed for our space, so that’s a plus. I wouldn’t recommend to buy it if you don’t have the patience to deal with a challenging assembly.

Modern and Sturdy BookshelfI was really surprised by the quality of this bookshelf! I think it looks even better in person than it does in pictures. Also, the addition of drawers is awesome. I have extra storage room now! For the price, I don’t think you can do better.Assembling can be confusing, but everything is marked by a number. If you follow the steps carefully, there should not be any issues. All in all, it took me about 3 hours to assemble it (with breaks).

Great product!!!The ladder book shelf is absolutely beautiful and really good quality. The pieces matched up perfectly. The only thing I would say that can be better are the directions, there weren’t any words, only pictures. It took me three hours to put it together by my self. I also had to put it together upright because I knew I was to small to lift it off the floor. But it came out great, and it’s very functional.

Just what I neededUsing this as a nightstand. Gives me plenty of room: charging station, alarm clock, phone, tissues, lotion etc, etc. Wonderful husband put it together in no time. It looks great. Wanted to put a small lamp on it but the shelves are not high enough so I added a under shelf light (brilliant husband did!) Drawers slide in an out smoothly, nice touch. Only complaint, I agree with other reviewers, the little circles that cover the screw holes on the sides are cheap, noticeable, and made out of a paper-like material. Otherwise, I like it a lot. Just what I wanted.Four stars bc of the cheap hole covers. Moved one and it is not adhering as well, not flush.
