In an independent test designed to measure breathing risk, Naturepedic breathable crib mattresses achieved the lowest risk category, allowing a simulated baby to breathe directly through the sleep surface indefinitely. A breathable sleep surface can also improve temperature regulation and reduce overheating. Test conducted by a third-party accredited laboratory.

Our Unique Technology
The organic cotton breathable surface is actually a 3-dimensional fabric that allows air to flow through the fabric and under the baby for 360° air circulation. The breathable function is encapsulated in a washable pad that completely hugs the mattress. This removable layer has a waterproof backing that keeps the mattress clean and protected from urine, spit-up, and other messes. If soiled, just replace with a spare pad or put the baby back to sleep on the fully functional underlying mattress.

Firm mattressWe have had this mattress for several months for our eight month old baby. We are very happy with how well it’s holding up compared to our previous mattress (different brand) that had developed a dent in the middle. The mattress is firm and our daughter seems comfortable. I don’t know about its claims of breathability scientifically, but our baby learned to roll over at four months and this mattress certainly made me feel better about her sleep.One negative was the smell it had when it arrived. We washed the cover (washability is very important for me) but it continued to have a smell. I don’t know if it was the coating or the cotton. We aired it out, but the smell persisted for a couple of weeks. It’s long gone now. If you’re still pregnant, I’d suggest getting the mattress sooner rather than later so you have time to air it out.

Not really double sidedWe purchased this (twice) because after our son died it was important to me that our next child sleep on an organic, safe, mattress. While it SEEMS fine, I liked that it advertised having 2 sides (one for babies and 1 for toddlers)… However we cannot find any way to identify which side is which!!! They aren’t labeled in any way and, to us, they both feel the same! It’s a fine crib mattress, albeit expensive but it doesn’t follow through on it’s promises.

Great mattress!We bought this mattress to replace a similar one which was ruined when our basement flooded. I really like the breathable mesh cover that comes off for washing, and the waterproof mattress. I think it’s worth the extra money to know baby is safe for all those hours they sleep!
