Absolutely rock solid chair.I have been in need of a new office chair for awhile now, and finally decided to figure out which one to buy and get along with it. Looking through the various choices on Amazon seemed like a never ending task with seemingly every chair having at least numerous negative reviews (and not the kind where you think “Well, that person just sounds like they don’t know what they are doing”), even from supposedly reputable brands. Returning a chair, after it is built, is not exactly on anyone’s to-do list even if it is free to do so.This brings me to this particular chair. Now, I am not exactly hip to all the known brands of office furniture, though I have experienced Herman Miller chairs before, so I had personally never heard of Space Seating before. Although it had a better brand name than most of the other “Onomatopoeia Sitdown Instrument” types, I was still a bit leery. I read the reviews (though not many in number) and they seemed like real, quality reviews and hit the notes I was looking for, so I took a risk and ordered it (to me any chair was a risk at this point).Alas, I received the chair this morning, brought the ~50lb box inside and started unpacking. EVERY SINGLE PIECE of this chair feels like quality, from the very substantial backrest, to the seat cushion, down to the wheels. Everything has heft to it and just has that quality feel, like when you touch a high end piece of clothing. Now, this could be ruined for many if the instructions are absent, or just plain ridiculous like some things you have to build. Nope! One page of directions, written perfectly, with both good illustrations AND actual sentences explaining what to do. The quality did not stop at the chair itself either. The screws/bolts and included allen wrench were also of great quality. No bolt disintegrating from the allen wrench, no allen wrench disintegrating from the bolt. I typically use my battery powered driver for these things, specifically because the stuff you get is junk. I just put it on the lowest clutch setting to start out to avoid stripping anything. I did start that way out of habit, but my drill quickly died because I failed to charge it in forever. So I had to move on to using the allen wrench, which thankfully was a breeze. So, the chair is together now (took me maybe 10-15 minutes at a leisurely pace) and I am sitting in it as we speak (or as I write). The cushion? Comfortable. The arm rest? Comfortable & adjustable! The height adjustment? Smooth. Wheels? Gliding across my medium pile carpet. The seat back? Both cool looking and supportive and most importantly actually touches my back without me having to lean way back. I am sitting upright in my chair as one would, and the seatback is right there supporting my lumbar. My previous chair felt like I had to backstroke across the English Channel to get some back support. I feel like all of the openings in the seatback will also help avoid any sweaty back situations, but I haven’t been in it that long. All in all, I am not someone who leaves many reviews (out of laziness probably), and I was feeling lost in this chair search, but Space Seating has really come through for me! So I needed to come through for them. I will try to remember to update this review in the future if I run into any issues, but as someone who enjoys building things (and purchases their fare share of “sale” items), I don’t envision having any issues with this chair for a long time.

Fantastic chair for wider hips and legsI finally replaced my last desk chair and got a really expensive, popular brand that was supposed to be great. It wasn’t. After two days, my tailbone hurt so much I hauled the chair out to the garage and shipped it back the following week. In desperation, I found this chair (at a fraction of the cost of the other) and decided to gamble on it based on reviews. This chair is fantastic. Comfortable with good cushioning, without feeling like you’re sitting in a bean bag or your mother-in-law’s barcalounger. The seat is wide enough for my larger hips, butt and thighs, but not so much so that I feel like I’m stretching to rest my elbow on the arms. I also appreciate that the arms attach outside the seat, leaving just a bit more room for my body and not making me feel like I’m squished in or having the arm braces rubbing on me. I’m not tall (5’7″), but I’m all legs with a short waist and this chair makes me feel like a normal person instead of like I’m in a kiddie chair with my knees at my ears. I’m also heavy – 225+lbs – and this chair never makes me feel nervous or like it’s not gonna last. The arms aren’t cloudlike or cushy, but they’re made of a good, dense, soft-ish material that makes me not notice them constantly throughout the day. They feel sturdy and don’t kill my elbows. They’re not as adjustable as a lot of arms are these days (no rotating in or out, but also not flopping around everywhere), but they do the job and the height can be adjusted to help relieve pressure on the wrist if you’re using a mouse all day and not always using the best posture. The back has a soft ergonomic curve to it, but it’s not the type that kills your tailbone (see above) or makes you feel like you can’t sit back (or even just upright, some chairs these days push you forward – I hate that). The base of this chair is also very solid (and heavy!). I thought I’d miss fabric or cushioning on the back, but this open back structure has been great. I can game and binge watch on my PC for far longer than is recommended, every day, without problems. I really wish I’d replaced my old chair with this one in March of 2020, instead of August 2021. It would have made the stay-at-home-orders more comfortable. This chair requires assembly, but it was clear cut and easy to do by myself.

Solid Chair for a 6’0″ 230lb humanAt 6’0″ and 230lb this chair is a good size for me. It feels strong enough to hold me without any issues. I am also able to raise the chair high enough for my long legs to sit comfortably. The back of the chair is very firm, which I also like. (my wife doesn’t like this chair, but it was for me and not her. At least I know she isn’t going to take it for her own. HAHA.)It was easy enough to put together, it might be important to know that the chair does weight 44 lbs. Some people might not like this, but I think it adds to the solid feel of the chair as a whole.I also like that the Color: Tang | Style: Raven matches my YMDK Carbon MX keycaps nicely (which I also got here on Amazon). Search: YMDK Carbon to find it.

So Comfortable and Adjusts to Fit Me PerfectlyI already owned three of these chairs. Because they are extremely comfortable, well-designed, and adjust to fit us perfectly, I purchased another. I use them for my office AND they also make great dining chairs. Older people can easily get into and out of these chairs, because of their height. (We added large casters to the dining table for more height, so it works, perfectly, with these chairs.) The adjustable arms provide a solid base to push against, so that getting out of this chair is a breeze. Absolutely the best office/dining chairs I’ve ever owned.I chose to assemble this chair, myself, and save a few bucks. When the chair arrived, it was in excellent condition, well-packed, and all the parts were there, along with CLEAR instructions. I assembled the chair in about 15-20 minutes, by myself. It was easy to do–even for an older person. I’m very satisfied with my purchase. It’s a fine product, and the seller gave me 5-Star service.
