ODOR free, No extra required to buy or do for Double Barn Door Highboy 58 Inch White OakCAUTION: Sadly, large a warning sticker placed on the exposed, visible side of back panel is not a simple peel off sticker & can be much harder to reach after assembly. Remove that one (not the small letter stickers) before assembly by dampening slightly with water or gentle cleaner, allow to soak briefly and if needed use fingernail or razor blade to lightly scrape, then dry off any moisture remaining.CAUTION #2 A larger unit comes in a large box marked “mechanical lift” which is a step above the “heavy 2-man box” kind of warning, so I advise to well consider where it will be placed for opening and assembly before a busy UPS person delivers. The driver cannot come in but will probably be allowed to help you shove it in through the doorway – if you happen to be home when it arrives. This 61 years-old lady could not shove it in myself that is for sure.I enjoy this so much, I soon purchased 2 other storage console items from Walker Edison for use in my home office. I think they will last a long time, and they look good too. I especially appreciate that Walker Edison seems to use a finish that blends very well with real wood pieces. For example, this fake White Oak I ordered blends quite well in a room with mom’s vintage authentic white oak pieces. The company uses better quality materials too, which seem to be on par with Sauder or any other the more top-of-the-line DIY assembly furniture. The pieces were all odor-free, which is especially important to me. The packaging and the unit had no off-gassing scents, migraine-inducing dust, Styrofoam particles, or boards made of particles. The instructions too are more top level, having several pages and a lot more detail than many for which I labored intensely to assemble. This was not hard to put together, it just takes a little time and patience with ones self and the product (and maybe a helping hand for a moment or two, depending on you.) Door hinges are always a slow work on any DIY assembly, but these were quite simple. Every piece was made properly, and they all fit together as they should – can we shout hallelujah for no need to “make it work.” The design is thoughtful, in particular on this model, which has a long shelf space placed just under the TV which is most perfect for the sound bar and whatever else is used frequently. A larger TV like 55″ might have legs that leave a gap underneath where a Blu-Ray or DVD player, cable box, etc can slide in under the TV – but that does not leave enough space for a sound bar on top. That upper shelf is genius. The side shelves are removable as well as adjustable on shelf pegs included, and the woofer can go there, if not used for decorative items or discs. I like keeping things more dust-free by storing behind the doors too. Shelves, long shelf plus a double cabinet space is all that one can hope for in a TV stand! The authentic and substantial metal trim on front is another thoughtful touch to make it seem more expensive. There are those yuck-y wood-grain imprinted stickers to cover up the bolt holes where parts are joined. I hate those too, but on the unit I have those stickers are all hard to see, as the joined pieces are mainly toward the back or else not in visually obvious places. I think it is safe to say if it looks good to you, go for it, odds are you’ll really enjoy it.

Looks Fantastic!Very easy to put together other than the doors, which took a little lining up to make sure they were perfectly straight. Assembled by myself in about 90 minutes and it turned out fantastic! The shelf is great to keep a soundbar and a couple of photos on without interfering with the view of the TV.

Good quality for the priceWe went to a couple local stores to look for an entertainment center. We didn’t find the style or the price is way above our budget. I found this and saw the good reviews and decided to give it a try. Amazon delivered today and nothing was damaged. It took me 2.5 hours to put it together with minimal help from my husband just for lifting and fitting the heavy pieces. It looks great in our living room. There were no holes in the back but we were able to drill one easily with our power drill.

A great tv stand, except for…..Bought this about 2 months ago, assembled the stand and was impressed by how clean and easy it was to put together. Everything except putting the doors on, I’d do that later. Later ended up being yesterday and came with a bit of disappointment. Out of the 24 screws needed to attach the hinges, 6 of them snapped off at the head! No, I wasn’t using a power tool, just a manual screwdriver. And no, I wasn’t over tightening them. They’d snap, or break I guess I should say, silently when they were still a couple of mm short of being screwed in. With everything else seemingly so solid, why give these cheap screws for the doors?? They also include a bag of spare parts, which I thought was really nice. In that bag there’s just about everything, except those screws.

I spent several hours putting togetherI really like this unit. It looks high end and feels fairly sturdy (I did use wood glue as putting it together to ensure it was more stable). I struggled big time putting it together though. The instructions are fairly vague in some areas and I ended up having to take it apart (when I was more than half way done) because I had the middle shelf (what is the bottom of the door cabinet part) backwards so I couldn’t put the top and back on correctly, the pictures don’t do a good job of depicting back from front. Also it says not to use power drills for assembly but beware the screws for the doors DO NOT screw in easily. I have a mini drill (it doesn’t have the power of a regular drill and won’t continue screwing when it feels resistance) that I used to get them in part of the way but then had to manually screw them in the rest of the way and it was hard. Seriously took me about 5 hours to put together by myself. I ended up getting my husband to help put the top shelf on because it’s hard to align it by yourself. Unit is definitely heavy, but I am excited to have a stand for my tv that sits up higher than a typical stand. Overall very satisfied with it.

Good, solid consoleThis was a good purchase. The assembly is a bit time-consuming (allow about 2 hours), but the only tools you’ll need to supply are a Philips head screwdriver and some extra wood glue (they don’t provide enough with it, you’ll need more – there are 33 dowel pieces to glue, and they only give one small container). You’ll want at least two people, though, it make the assembly process go smoothly.Note: there is another one on Amazon that looks nearly identical in the photos, but is about $80 less. I went with this one because I recognized the name as being decent quality (did not recognize the other name) and this one had good reviews on other sites (e.g., Home Depot – but it was out of stock on their site, and about $50 more than on Amazon).Pros:*the top shelf is great for a sound bar (a primary reason I bought this one)*easily accommodates a 65″ TV, could hold bigger TV*looks really nice when done. Even the doors line up, which is not always accomplished with pre-fab furniture*sturdy*color was true to the image (unlike some others I’ve evaluated)*assembly instructions are clear*extras of some hardware provided, just in case*pieces are well marked to ease assemblyCons:*packaging OK. The box was damaged, and one of the back panels was slightly damaged (but not enough to justify a return, since it would be facing the wall). Styrofoam is crumbly and messy, as always.*the only PITA part of the assembly was putting the magnetized door stops on Piece #5 – the clearance is an issue unless you have a small-handled screwdriver. If I did it over again, I’d mount those loosely on the separate piece before incorporating that piece into the entire console and then tighten them at the end, instead of trying to mount them as a later step.Pro or Con, depending on your needs*does not have any pre-cut holes for cords. For me, this isn’t a con because those holes are often huge and not necessarily located where I want/need them. I used my Dremel tool to put the holes where I want and in the size I want.
