Exactly what we were looking forWe’d been going back and forth about what to do for our kids beds.We had just upgraded our toddler to a big kid bed on the floor, and had put him in the room with bubba, who’s bed was already off the ground. The mattress we got for both boys — a full size from Sam’s — is, unfortunately, extremely thick. With our eldest, with a basic frame and normal box spring, the mattress sat high enough that he needed a step stool to get up to it.My thought to avoid that need now with the younger was to opt for a lower platform frame, providing more storage underneath and a lower overall height for the bed. Unfortunately, most platform frames I found had complaints of quality control issues or of squeakiness over time. Many were not compatible with the bed rails we had. Most had compatibility issues with headboards, which was something we wanted to consider as well.So we figured, okay; we’ll buy another cheap frame and get a low profile box spring instead of a tall one. Brother will want to match too, but we can still use his frame. Should be fine. Then I looked at prices. For reasons I can’t fathom, low profile foundations are double the price of their thicker counterparts, even within the same brand and line. No way am I going to shell out $500 on two box springs. After some discussion and research, we finally settled on this: a platform frame with a built in headboard. And we settled on this one in particular for the price, the brand, the reviews, the speed of delivery, and the cushioned headboard (needed for rambunctious and injury-prone children). We got one to try out before ordering a matching one for the elder brother.Pros:- Setup was more involved than I expected, but wasn’t difficult. The kids helped put it together.- It’s sturdy. No wobbling. No squeaking.- It’s tall, which was important for the tall mattress.- It works with our bedrails. Because the top of the platform boards is flush with the frame, and because the width matches the width of the mattress, all of our bed rails work with this frame.- It looks good!- The kiddos love it.Cons:- Not surpassingly, the headboard is not thickly padded all the way through. However I was surprised at how thin the padding was. It’s thin because the headboard is mostly hollow, housing all the components! Nevertheless, it’s thick enough to make a big difference compared to bumping your head on drywall.- Overall, it only reduced the height of the bed by about an inch compared to the frame+box spring. So for our tall mattress a step stool is still a requirement for the younger brother.- despite being tall, the way that it is constructed purposely limits the height of what can fit under the bed. It’s maybe an inch more than the basic frame and box spring. Not a biggie, and it probably gives it better aesthetics. In the end, we love it and big brother, who just smacked his head on the drywall again last night, is excitedly awaiting the delivery of his own matching frame.

Single, 65+ woman assembled in a little over an hourThe packaging was amazing — all the parts tucked in a zipper compartment on the headboard. I’ve assembled lots of furniture, but this came with a game changer — a small hex ratchet that made the final tightening a breeze! The bed feels sturdy (super strong Velcro for the slats). It’s for the guest room and my son and his wife will be down next weekend to “christen” it. Will definitely update with how that goes. The only thing I would change would be little labels on the actual parts, but they are pretty distinctive, and I didn’t have to undo or redo anything.

High quality bed frame and heavy! But worth itObviously if you buy the king size bed frame which I did heads up it’s super heavy! Tools and frame were conveniently packed within the headboard which was pretty neat in my opinion. The bed frame was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy and well made. Highly recommend this to anyone seeking a decently priced bedframe. Worth the money.

Get this one!We bought this as our son’s first big-boy bed. It’s awesome – for him (he’s 3) it’s a bit ‘tall’ for him to get in, but assuming he will grow (or you’re not buying for a small child – it’s a great height). First – all of it came tucked in the headboard for easy shipping/management, and protection of the pieces, it was so very easy to assemble. Took 2 people about 20 minutes, and could easily assemble by 1 person. Very sturdy, great looking, no chemical smells. Color is exactly as pictured.

Extremely sturdy. Well built frame. Perfect height for my 3.5 year old.Great frame. I was really impressed. So easy to put together. Did it in maybe 40 min. Has plenty of support with lots of slates (they velcro down so no screwing). Also has metal support in the middle. This frame is heavy for the size and can easily support my son amd 230lb husband. Love this frame. I will be buying a full for my spare room.

  6. Anna

Better than IKEAAmazing bed and is very easy to assemble. HOWEVER since it is new, it does give off a chemical odor. To other buyers out there, I would recommend opening the windows for as much of the day as possible and trying to avoid sleeping on it during the first one or two days after putting the bed together. The odor disappeared after 3 to 4 days for me. My ikea bed frame took like 2 weeks to stop smelling bad.

  7. Friend

Pretty nice for the price! This bed is pretty nice for the price! Way better than those plain metal frame beds for similar cost. Packed very well too – everything is in the headboard! Easy to put together. We took one star off because the only downside is there is not a great lip for the mattress to rest on and stay in the frame. It basically sits right on top of the frame and every morning it has slid off the edge a little. It drives my teen crazy! We’re trying to find a way to fix that but no luck yet 😕

Retired it after 6 years of useIt is still working after so many years, i just moved to a different bed now. I think I got slightly lucky. My seller was Amazon, it came with 1 year warranty from Zinus and it broke with in first 6 month. The side panel which attaches to headboard had a tear where the metal hook attaches to it.I contacted Zinus and after seeing the images they agreed to send a replacement panel. The good thing was they sent all 4 side panels. So I used one and kept restTwo years back, we had to replace another panel and it is going strong since. So 6+ years with two panel replaced, but if you break it after the warranty I am not sure if you can buy replacement parts.we are not very heavy, perhaps 300 lbs for both of us. Our kids do not jump on bed. We did not abuse it, just used it like a bed is supposed to be but perhaps used one side more than the other one. The first panel was probably defective as the next one lasted for 3.5 years. If you expecting good amount of movement, my suggestion is to go in the middle of the bed.Other than that it is great. Slats are still going strong. We had a 13″ mattress and it did not squeak at all in all those years.

Good looking sturdy bed, easy to assembleAssembly took about 1 hr, we had a screw gun handy. The headrest has good cushion and is high enough to support an almost upright sitting posture. Bed feels sturdy and doesnt create any noises

Love It!I was looking for a simple headboard/bed frame and this one is perfect. I was able to assemble it myself in a reasonable amount of time.
